It’s official, folks. Our students are world travelers! Today was our first full day of exploring the beautiful country of Costa Rica and, if the soft snoring from the rooms tells us anything, it was a successful one.
Today’s primary goal was to travel from the capital city of San José to the town of Fortuna, in the shadow of Volcán Arenal. On the way, we stopped to tour a coffee roasting facility and grabbed lunch overlooking the Sarapiqui River. Once in Arenal, we had time for a quick hike to learn more about the volcano and the flora and fauna that call it home.
While there are several pictures in this post, please know there are plenty more not included here. As we have time, the chaperones will add picture-only posts to share our favorite snapshots from across our three buses.
Tomorrow will be a water day, full of kayaking, hiking to a waterfall, and soaking in hot springs. Students should have their swimsuits and sunscreen ready to roll for an early breakfast before our day of fun.
One last note from this tired educator: Our student have shown themselves to be curious, flexible, respectful young travelers. We couldn’t be more proud of them, and we are looking forward to all the fun ahead of us this week!
